All Assistance for the Homeless to End

Staff members at the North Coast Resource Center informed their clients today, that all services for the homeless will be stopped due to lack of funding. There will be no more showers for seniors and disabled, no more mail services and case management. Also after two more community lunches next week, there will be no more lunches. It seems the only service that will still be provided is food boxes for housed people that can show proof of residence. Previously the NCRC (still known to many as The Endeavor) had indicated that the lunch program would be expanded from two days a week to three, starting with the new fiscal year in July. Apparently the expected funding did not come through, and now the most needy will be left with nothing. Years ago, when they first opened, they served lunch five days a week and offered shower and laundry services to all those who were in need.

As far as I know, services may be suspended temporarily due to funding shortages.

This agency actually gives the biggest bang for its buck if anyone is interested in donating. I am, and will.

What I've seen of the NCRC is that they offer a hand up as opposed to a hand out,....

I'm willing to send $20 to feed the unhoused and hungry an I'm staying in Ohio/Michigan.

I've been in Ohio/Michigan for a few weeks, I just came here from lovely Arcata, I used the services at the NCRC before my summer travels, please let's give a little and continue services there. It's tough here right now but, the community knows it and is doing something about it. Like I mentioned in my previous post...I'll give/send some $$$ to help.

Peace be with you

Maybe if the Endeavor could make feeding people their number one priority again, instead of poverty pimping, they could afford the dollar a year lease, and the volunteer labor.

But alas its Shelter's shelter that the rebranded NCRC is all about. Kathy Anderson said this would happen once the city got involved with the Endeavor's original grass roots efforts. Too bad, it helped a lot of people before the dude who turned the Serenity Inn into a crack house became its manager.

And don't believe that "hand-up" shit, 'cause they don't even give a reach around while their fucking the houseless.

Unfortunate that so many of the clients who have benefited from John Shelter's forward thinking are unable to counter your hate for John Shelter, Tad. Perhaps you've been misinformed. Kathy has been wrong on many accounts, and the needs go beyond food. The food part is the foundation and John continues to find ways to help people. Maybe you should try accessing their services and helping instead of lambasting.
