Tad on Hunger Strike, Friends Vigil on Plaza
Tad Robinson, the well known homeless rights activist and local blogger, is entering the second week of a hunger strike. He went to jail last Sunday to serve out a 35 day sentence after an incident during public comment at the January 27 Humboldt County Board of Supervisors meeting. He started fasting on October 20 at the last Board of Supervisors meeting. Meanwhile some of his supporters are holding a 24 hour vigil for him on the Arcata Plaza.

October 24th is the the International Day of Climate Action and the world (3,559 actions at this time) will be injecting the number 350 into the information bloodstream of the planet. 350 parts per million carbon dioxide in our atmosphere - the number we need for a livable planet. Organized by the folks at www.350.org
, this is a chance to join the world and send a message - we want change! Saturday will be huge and pictures from the actions will be broadcast in Times Square on the big screen

Arcata Choir Sings for Vets in Ferndale
Today, the Arcata Interfaith Gospel Choir sang at the 4th Annual North Coast Stand down at the Humboldt County Fairgrounds in Ferndale. The mission of the North Coast Stand Down is to provide Veterans and their families direct access
to service providers and educational information on state, federal, and local community services.

Poor People's March for Human Rights
People marched in Eureka yesterday, protesting for human rights and health care, and against the criminalization of homelessness. The march ended at Highland Park where there was food and music.
