Last night at the Arcata Community Center, Arcata celebrated Cesar Chavez Day with a free dinner, traditional folkloric dancing, and other entertainment. Petitions to make the day a national holiday were circulated.

Humboldt Circus Celebrates in Plaza
Last night I ran into the Humboldt Circus parading down G Street to celebate the opening show of their new season. In the plaza they drummed, played music and danced.

Rest in peace Captain Nova Star
This is in memory of Jeff Daniel Fichtler, who died last year when he was struck by a vehicle on the 101 Freeway. He was well known on the streets of Arcata and loved by many friends.
First Post
I just decided to start this blog in the spur of the moment, so I don't really have much yet. I plan to cover local events, news, and street life in Arcata. There will be lots of photos. To start with, here is a photo I just took by the HSU footbridge. It seems that people find it a good place to play music.
